The longest kitchen renovation

It has been forever since I’ve updated the status of my house. It’s actually complete (for the most part). I’m actually knee deep (well not quite knee deep anymore) in my kitchen renovation. I’ve replaced all of my cabinetry (which I built myself), added an island, removed old and laid new tile, put in a new range hood, replaced my sink, faucet, and garbage disposal, put in walnut butcher block counters on the perimeter cabinets and poured concrete for my island counter. In addition to that, I removed a wall that was not allowing for the open concept I wanted for my kitchen/den space. I’m almost at the finish line with it all.

The kitchen renovation idea began in April. I was actually in the middle of  transitioning between jobs. I gave myself one week off to work on 3 kitchen cabinets that I had started to construct a few weeks prior. The cabinets were for an island that I wanted to put in our kitchen. It wasn’t until May where I actually started demoing things out of my kitchen. I had a goal of finishing before the end of summer but that mark has come and gone so now my new completion goal is the end of the year. But, in all honesty, I don’t even think I’ll make that goal with Christmas around the corner. The kitchen has come such a long way since I started on it and I am so proud of what I have done and what I can now say that I am now able to do.

First Post

Does anyone else sit at work and look at blogs all day? Well, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing for the past couple of years. I should be working but I’m obsessing over all the things I could be doing at home. And so here I am, starting my own blog since I have many, many projects to tackle in my house and wanted to document the process. It helps that this will keep me busy at work during the times I’d otherwise be blog surfing through the interwebs. Cheers to whomever stumbles upon this.
